Pep Guardiola is looking for defensive reinforcements, with the Southampton centre-half top of his wish list, but the French champions are also in the hunt
Manchester City are plotting a £50 million bid for Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk, according to the Daily Mail.
Pep Guardiola is in the market for defensive reinforcements and discussions regarding a move for the Netherlands international during the January transfer window are said to have already taken place.
The Premier league title hopefuls are, however, set to face competition from domestic and European rivals for the 25-year-old centre-half.
Liverpool and Manchester United have been heavily linked with Van Dijk, while the Daily Star reports that Ligue 1 champions Paris St Germain are also weighing up a winter approach.
