The new Eagles boss hopes to sign the veteran striker from their relegation rivals Sunderland, though any bids are expected to be rebuffed
Sam Allardyce wants a reunion with Jermain Defoe at Crystal Palace as the former looks to save his side from relegation, writes the Daily Mirror.
The newly-appointed Palace boss led Defoe when the pair were at Sunderland last season, with the veteran striker’s goals key to saving the Black Cats from the drop.
Allardyce is hoping that Defoe can repeat the feat this term – only with Sunderland’s relegation rivals, Palace, this time.
However, Sunderland are expected to turn down bids for the 34-year-old after boss David Moyes declared him off the market.
