The former Red Devils loanee is backing his fellow Swede to make the grade at Old Trafford if, as expected, the defender completes a big-money move in January
Henrik Larsson is confident that Victor Lindelof will be a Manchester United success story if a big-money transfer is pushed through during the January window.
The Benfica centre-half is expected to be on the move in the near future, with Jose Mourinho ready to add the talented defender to his Red Devils ranks.
Lindelof representative confirms bid
Lindelof is likely to be thrown straight into the fold at Old Trafford, with United set to be without Eric Bailly during the Africa Cup of Nations.
They have been covering his absence through injury of late, with the Ivorian picking up another knock in the recent 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace.
Lindelof will provide ready-made cover and Larsson believes the 22-year-old will have no trouble adapting his game to meet the demands of the Premier League.
“He is already playing at a high level, so he’s prepared for a club like Manchester United,” Larsson told Portuguese news outlet DN.
How does Lindelof measure up?
“He is at a club like Benfica and he is also a first choice for Sweden.
“It’s going to be a case of adapting to a different style of football.”
Lindelof has only been a regular at Benfica since January, but has already graced the Portuguese top-flight, the Champions League and Euro 2016.
He cannot claim to boast the experience Larsson brought with him to Old Trafford when completing a loan switch in 2007, but the iconic former striker insists that will not be an issue for his fellow countryman.
“We are a very adaptable people, whether in football or any other activity”, the Celtic legend explained.
Has Lindelof said goodbye to Benfica?
“I think the Swedes are very prepared as a people to take on any kind of challenge and it will not be difficult for Lindelof to adapt to the style of English football.”
Lindelof will have a familiar face to help him to settle in England if a move is pushed through, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic having previously played alongside the youngster with the Sweden national team and talked up his talents and obvious potential.
