Colorado Rapids close to landing Adjei-Boateng from Manchester City

The 22-year-old box-to-box midfielder would fill the void left by the exit of Jermaine Jones at the MLS outfit

The Colorado Rapids are close to signing Ghanaian midfielder Bismark Adjei-Boateng from Manchester City, a source with knowledge of the ongoing negotiations told Goal on Friday.

The move, which would involve a transfer fee, could be finalised as early as next week, when the international transfer window reopens.

How much is Landon Donovan worth?

Acquired by Manchester City in 2011 from the Right to Dream academy in Ghana, Adjei-Boateng has spent the last four seasons on loan with Norwegian side Stromsgodset, scoring 17 goals in 85 league appearances.

The 22-year-old would fill the void in Colorado’s midfield left by the departure of designated player Jermaine Jones, whose rights were traded to the LA Galaxy earlier this month.
