The Premier League and Bundesliga giants are set to go head-to-head in a bid to lure the highly rated Portugal defender away from Benfica
Manchester United will face competition from Bayern Munich in any potential transfer scramble Benfica defender Nelson Semedo, according to O Jogo.
The Red Devils are reported to have been monitoring the Portugal international for some time, having also explored a possible deal for his current team-mate Victor Lindelof.
Jose Mourinho has suggested that any plans to land the Swede in January have been shelved, but he remains in the market.
Bayern, though, are also looking to freshen up their defensive ranks and O Jogo claim that the bidding for Semedo is likely to start at around €40m (£34m), significantly less than the €60m (£51m) buyout clause in his contract until 2021.
