The centre-back has impressed at Borussia Monchengladbach and his father says he will be brought back to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season
Chelsea will bring Andreas Christensen back to the club this summer, the centre-back’s father and agent Sten Christensen said.
Man City’s doping charge explained
Christensen, 20, has been at Borussia Monchengladbach since July 2015, having joined on a two-year loan deal.
The Denmark international has been a key player at Gladbach, prompting reports the Bundesliga side could look to sign him on a permanent basis.
His father, however, says Chelsea have already decided to bring him back to Stamford Bridge at the end of the summer.
“Chelsea would like Andreas back, and they have wanted that for a long time,” he told Danish outlet BT. “But it was a two-year lease, so there was nothing they could do.
“They have worked to get him back before, but Gladbach would not let him go. Instead, they want to buy Andreas, but will Chelsea get rid of him, and is the price too high?
China’s message to Premier League ‘hypocrites’
“As it is right now, he’ll be back at Chelsea again this summer. It is important to Andreas that he plays. He will not return to Chelsea just to sit on the bench.
“This transfer window will determine how Andreas’ situation will look in the summer. If Chelsea buy 10 centre-backs, it may well be that we need to do something else.”
