Doing a Ronaldo! Chelsea legend Drogba to be offered Corinthians deal

The Ivorian striker has been without a club since leaving MLS side Montreal Impact, but has been given the opportunity to prolong his career in Brazil

Brazilian outfit Corinthians have put an offer to free agent frontman Didier Drogba, Goal understands.

The experienced Ivorian has been without a club since leaving Montreal Impact at the end of the 2016 Major League Soccer season.

Drogba wants to carry on playing

He is now 38 years of age, but has already stated his intention to prolong a distinguished playing career.

“I want to play,” Drogba told Canal+.

“I still have my legs and I’m still like a kid with the ball. My knee got a bit annoyed [last season] but I feel good.”

The Chelsea legend has admitted that he would welcome the opportunity to return to Marseille – the club that helped to propel him to superstardom.

Goal understands, though, that Drogba is open to the idea of taking on a new challenge in South America.

Corinthians have pieced together a proposal, which was sent to his representatives on Thursday.

Were he to accept the terms, Drogba would be given the opportunity to tread a similar path to another iconic frontman of the modern era.

Zaha reveals his Premier League idol

World Cup winner and three-time World Player of the Year Ronaldo brought the curtain down on his career with Corinthians, netting 35 times in 69 appearances before heading into retirement in 2011.

The club’s marketing team have worked hard to get partners on board and make a move financially viable for all concerned, with a decision now resting in Drogba’s hands.
