Evra would have done anything for Man Utd return – agent

The left-back was linked with an Old Trafford return before joining Marseille, and his representative admits he’d have done anything to rejoin United

Patrice Evra would have done anything to return to Manchester United and even spoke with Jose Mourinho over a move, his agent has revealed.

Basti-gol – Schweinsteiger proves a point at Man Utd

The 35-year-old joined Marseille from Juventus in January, bringing an end to speculation surrounding potential moves to Crystal Palace, Valencia.

He was also linked with a move back to Old Trafford, having spent eight years there, winning five Premier League titles, the Champions League and Club World Cup.

Evra signed an 18-month contract with the Ligue 1 side this month, stating that he “did not hesitate for a second” in joining Marseille. However, his representative, Federico Pastorello, says discussions with the Red Devils boss were held.

“There was contact between the player and Jose Mourinho,” he told Telefoot. “If there had been an opportunity to return, he would have done everything to go back to Manchester United.

“The key to part of the transfer to Marseille was the meeting with sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta.”

Man Utd fans laud Schweinsteiger on return

Evra made his debut for Marseille in Friday’s 5-1 trouncing, but Rudi Garcia’s men are currently sixth in Ligue 1 – 16 points behind leaders Nice.

As well as landing Evra this month, Marseille are set to wrap up the signing of Dimitri Payet for £25 million after West Ham confirmed the two clubs reached an agreement.
