Neymar’s former agent wanted Real Madrid move over Barcelona and Chelsea in 2013

The Brazilian star could have completed a move to his current club’s arch rivals if things had turned out differently

Neymar’s former agent has revealed that he wanted the Brazilian to make a move to Real Madrid in 2013.

Wagner Ribeiro said that both Madrid and Chelsea bid for Neymar, in addition to Barcelona, and the Santos star even passed a medical with the Blancos before opting to move to Camp Nou instead.

“I sent offers from Chelsea and Real Madrid to Santos,” Ribeiro told UOL Esporte. “The one from Barcelona went directly to the father. I wanted him to go to Madrid, I always said it.

“Economically, it was a better offer for Santos and even better for the player. But he decided to go to Barcelona because they were the team of his heart.”

Ribeiro is no longer Neymar’s agent after the player’s father Neymar Santos Sr. took over those duties.

“I was his agent from the age of 12 and got him two contracts with Santos, but when he grew up, his father took control of everything through his companies,” Ribeiro said.

Wenger expects Mbappe to stay

“I’m no longer Neymar’s agent. It’s his father, but it’s true that we’re working together because we’re close.”

Neymar has won a Champions League crown and two La Liga titles since making his move to Barca.
