The Pole is pleased to have the opportunity to win the Golden Boot prize back off the 28-year-old Gabon international star, who will remain with BVB
Bayern Munich hitman Robert Lewandowski says that it is a good thing that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is not on the move this summer – despite the Gabon international’s status as the star man for rivals Borussia Dortmund.
Dortmund 11/2 to win BuLi title
Aubameyang beat the Pole to the Bundesliga’s Golden Boot last season, scoring 31 goals, although Dortmund’s title challenge proved a poor one as Bayern comfortably ran away with the crown.
The prolific scoring form of the 28-year-old has attracted attention from several of Europe’s top clubs, including Real Madrid, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, but the club have insisted that he will not depart Peter Bosz’s side this summer.
Lewandowski has welcomed that news.
“It’s good for the Bundesliga,” the former BVB striker told Sport Bild. “And it’s also good for us: when we became champions early, we lacked pressure. This means the competition and pressure will be high.”
Meanwhile, he has also challenged new addition James Rodriguez to show something special if he wants to claim free kick duty from him.
“It he wants to take them, he has to show something special!” he joked.
Emery: PSG need someone like Neymar
Dortmund’s sporting director Michael Zorc confirmed to Goal on Tuesday that they will not let Aubameyang go, after the 28-year-old scored twice in a 3-1 International Champions Cup win over Milan on Tuesday.
“It’s quite simple,” he said. “We opened this window for a certain time frame to realise if the transfer [could be done].
“The deadline is over. No [the club wouldn’t consider a mega offer], we are going to plan with him for the new season and our intentions are the same.”
