Orlando Pirates defender Marc Van Heerden is reportedly seriously considering leaving the club.
According to The Citizen, Van Heerden recently survived an attempted hijacking and he is said to be considering leaving Pirates as he feels unsafe in Johannesburg.
The publication’s source, who is close to the former AmaZulu left-back has revealed that the player wants to go back to the coast and the recent incident has fuelled his desire to leave the city.
“He was with his wife in Bryanston when the incident happened,” the source said.
“Now he is really trying to get Pirates to allow him to go to any team in Durban or Cape Town, which is his preferred destination,” the source continued.
“He said he would gladly rejoin Chippa United as well if that were to be an option for him,” the source concluded.
Van Heerden, who is a former South Africa youth international, joined Pirates from Chippa United midway through the 2016/17 season.
He has made two PSL appearances for Bucs this season – netting once in the process.
