MLS trade tracker: All of the half-day trade window deals

With another MLS season in the books, teams are already preparing for 2018. Just hours after Toronto FC lifted the MLS Cup, the league’s trade window has opened for a half-day in anticipation of the MLS Expansion Draft for Los Angeles FC on Tuesday.

With teams unable to protect everyone, deals are being made so that teams who can’t keep all of their valuable players at least don’t lose them for nothing.

SPORTING KC ACQUIRE KENWYNE JONES FROM ATLANTA

In the most interesting and biggest move of the half-day trade window, Sporting KC and Atlanta United worked out a four-player deal that included Kenwyne Jones. 

Jones announced his retirement in November, but was part of a deal on Sunday that saw him, along with goalkeeper Alexander Tambakis and a natural fourth-round pick in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft, dealt to Sporting Kansas City in exchange for midfielder Kevin Oliveira, defender Tyler Pasher and Sporting KC’s natural second-round pick in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft. 


HOUSTON DYNAMO LAND ARTURO ALVAREZ FROM CHICAGO FIRE

The Houston Dynamo traded for Arturo Alvarez on Sunday, sending the club’s natural second-round pick in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft to the Chicago Fire.

A Houston native who played his international soccer for El Salvador, his parents’ birth country, Alvarez is a 12-year MLS veteran who played 25 times for the Fire last season, making 13 starts. 


NEW YORK CITY FC TRADES BRILLANT TO D.C. UNITED

D.C. United has picked up defender Frederic Brillant, sending $75,000 in general allocation money and a 2018 international roster spot to New York City FC in the deal. 

Since joining in 2016, Brillant has played 58 times for New York and was a regular in the heart of the club’s defense. 


ATLANTA TRADES HARRISON HEATH TO MINNESOTA UNITED

Minnesota United head coach Adrian Heath will be joined at the club by his son, Harrison Heath, after the club pulled off a trade with Atlanta United to land the younger member of the Heath family. 

MNUFC sent a 2019 fourth-round draft pick to Atlanta in the deal.

DARREN MATTOCKS TRADED TO D.C. UNITED
