Paris Saint-Germain captain Thiago Silva acknowledges that he does not know if Neymar will join Real Madrid this summer.
The Brazil international has been heavily linked with a switch to the Santiago Bernabeu, just a year after moving to Parc des Princes from Barcelona in a world-record €222 million deal.
Goal understands that PSG have promised Neymar that he will be sold to Real if the Ligue 1 side win the Champions League this season.
The 26-year-old has been in sparkling form this season, scoring 28 goals in 27 appearances in all competitions.
PSG lead Ligue 1 by 12 points over second-placed Monaco and, ironically, face Real in the next round of European competition.
Thiago Silva has hailed Neymar’s contribution thus far this season, but says he is unaware if he will join Zinedine Zidane’s men this year.
“I don’t know. I cannot speak for him,” he told Canal +.
“We know that sometimes the press releases things that are not true. But also others that are true. I cannot say anything. I hope he stays with us, he still has a lot of things to do with us, and he has already helped us a lot, and thanks to him and the work we do together, we are even more famous.”
Real have stuttered in La Liga thus far this season, and sit third, 17 points behind leaders Barcelona and 10 behind second-placed Atletico Madrid.
Nevertheless, Zidane’s men ran riot on Saturday, beating Real Sociedad 5-2 as Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat-trick, and Thiago Silva is wary of the threat posed by the Spanish giants.
“I think it’s going to be a very high level match, you have to be focused, you do not have to talk too much before,” he added.
“I just give advice to the team. We will have to play our game, try to control the match and stay focused when we don’t have the ball. We must continue to work and respect this team.”
The defender also maintains that fans should not underestimate Real because of their domestic woes.
“People think that Paris is already in the quarters because Real has run through a bad time,” he added. “No, it’s not like that. The big players, we see them in the big matches, and it’s sure that those players at Real will give everything in this game. We will too.”
