Manchester United have made an approach for Juventus left-back Alex Sandro and Barcelona centre-back Samuel Umtiti, according to The Times.
Jose Mourinho is planning a major defensive overhaul in the summer, and believes the club’s lack of defensive options has held them back in 2017-18.
And the Portuguese is hoping to sign the 27-year-old Brazilian and 24-year-old Frenchman as part of that overhaul.
Rabiot fuels transfer talk
Adrien Rabiot has increased speculation surrounding a possible transfer by refusing to commit his future to Paris Saint-Germain.

Manchester United, Liverpool and Milan are all keeping tabs on teenage West Ham midfielder Domingos Quina, according to the Mirror.
The 18-year-old is considered one of Europe’s best prospects, but has yet to feature in the Premier League this season with West Ham taking part in a relegation battle.
Quina will have one year remaining on his contract at the end of this season.
Everton and West Ham after £35m Porto star
Multiple Premier League sides are set to move for Porto striker Moussa Marega, according to the Mirror.
Everton, West Ham and Swansea have all scouted the 26-year-old Mali international, who has 20 league goals in 24 appearances for Porto this season.
Marega’s contract includes a £35m release clause, and an auction for his services could see his price rise beyond that this summer.
Fabinho denies PSG contact
Monaco midfielder Fabinho says he has not been in contact with Paris Saint-Germain over a possible transfer.
The 24-year-old has been linked with a summer move to Parc des Princes, but insisted he isn’t worrying about his future until after the season.
