Salah told by Egypt legend now is ‘the right time’ for Real Madrid move

Mohamed Salah has been advised by Egypt legend Hany Ramzy that now is “the right time” to leave Liverpool and link up with Real Madrid.

A stunning debut season for the 25-year-old forward at Anfield has delivered 43 goals, the PFA Player of the Year award, the FWA Footballer of the Year prize and a place in the Champions League final.

Those exploits have, unsurprisingly, drawn admiring glances from afar, with world football’s biggest clubs now in the market for a player performing at the peak of his powers.

Real Madrid are considered to be leading the chase, as they seek another Galactico signing, and Ramzy feels Salah needs to make the most of a standing which currently sees him in contention for the 2018 Ballon d’Or.

A man who earned 124 caps for Egypt during his playing days told ESPN FC: “I think he makes history for an Egyptian player and this is very important. Also that all the world can see that Egypt has talent.

“And about the question if it is better for Salah to stay at Liverpool or transfer himself to another league, I think all the media are talking about Real Madrid or Barcelona.

“For me, Salah is ready to make this step. For him it’s time.

“It’s the right time to transfer or go to Real Madrid, especially I think Real Madrid as the way they play could be a very, very good transfer for Salah, because he makes everything this season with Liverpool.

“He was their best player, he was the top scorer and if he waits until next year maybe he will not get the chance to move. Maybe he loses his level, maybe he has an injury, but we hope not.

“But I think at the moment that Salah can go to Real Madrid or Barcelona maybe but I see him in Real Madrid, being more comfortable.”

Liverpool signed Salah to a five-year contract upon his arrival at Anfield, so he remains tied to them until 2022.

The Reds have also sought to play down any suggestion of them parting with another prized asset just one window on from the sale of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona.

The Real rumours are refusing to away, though, and Salah will get another opportunity to stake a claim for a possible role at Santiago Bernabeu when Liverpool face the Blancos in the Champions League final on May 26.
