Although the transfer window is yet to officially open in the South African Premier Soccer League, Chippa United are already busy beefing their squad ahead of the 2018/19 season.
The Chilli Boys have already captured Mamelodi Sundowns experienced defender in Thabo Nthethe as well as Gift Motupa among other players, and as things stand, they are not done.
Having brought back coach Dan Malesela, the Port Elizabeth-based side has signed two Botswana internationals in Thatayaone Kgamanyane and Kabelo Seakanyeng of Gaborone United.
According to Botswana’s KillerPass, the duo impressed the PSL side at the ongoing 2018 Cosafa Cup tournament in Limpopo.
Under coach Major David Bright, the Zebras topped Group B of the regional tournament with seven points only to lose in the quarter-finals. They will now face South Africa in the Plate final on Friday afternoon.
Kgamanyane finished as the 2017/18 BTC Premiership top scorer with 20 goals after an impressive season and was on the scoresheet for the Zebras against Mauritius last week.
Moreover, Seakanyeng wrapped up the past Botswana Premier League term on a high and he is a key figure for the Zebras in the regional tournament.
The former BDF XI (Seakanyeng) midfielder has so far netted three times as he helped Bright’s men into the Plate final against Bafana Bafana at the new Peter Mokaba Stadium.
KillerPass also reports that Gaborone United have also confirmed the deals through a statement released by the club general manager, Olebile Sikwane.
“Gaborone United is proud to be associated with this talent and rapidly growing brand in Chippa United,” said Sikwane as quoted by the Botswana publication.
“The Chairman Chippa Mpengesi has been very honest and diligent in our discussion. We thank everybody else in particularly the Zebras for the platform and also overwhelming support of Gaborone United management and supporters,” reads the statement.
Kgamanyane and Seakanyeng will join the likes of Kabelo Dambe, Mogakolodi Ngele, Mpho Kgaswane as Botswana players plying their trade in the PSL.
Meanwhile, the Chilli Boys are also reportedly looking to sign experienced Port Elizabeth-born winger Daine Klate who is currently contracted to Bidvest Wits.
