Real Madrid have announced the rescindment of Fabio Coentrao’s contract, with the left-back heading back to Portugal with Rio Ave, while Borja Mayoral has joined Levante on a season-long loan.
Coentrao’s deal at the Santiago Bernabeu had been set to expire in 2019, but with the Portuguese having not been part of Julen Lopetegui’s plans he has been allowed to return to his home country in what appears to be a one-year deal.
Mayoral, still just 21 years old, was expected to leave the European champions in pursuit of first-team football after Mariano Diaz was signed back from Lyon in a €33 million deal.
Sevilla had been linked with the Spain youth international, who spent 2016-17 on loan at Wolfsburg, but he has instead sealed a move to Ciutat de Valencia.
Levante’s official statement does not stipulate as to whether they have an option to buy the young forward.

Mayoral made 14 appearances in La Liga last season, just three of which were starts, and scored three goals.
Coentrao, meanwhile, has headed back to his homeland following a loan spell with Sporting CP last term, which followed a season-long switch to Monaco the previous year.
