Nathan Ake has sparked talk of interest from Manchester United and Tottenham, but Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe insists no approaches have been made.
The Dutch defender only joined the Cherries on a permanent basis ahead of the 2017-18 campaign, having impressed during a previous loan switch from Chelsea.
The 23-year-old has been a Premier League ever-present for the south coast club and a model of consistency, earning him senior international recognition with Netherlands.
His exploits have also attracted interest from Old Trafford and north London, with reports of £40 million ($52m) bids doing the rounds ahead of the January transfer window.
Bournemouth, though, have no intention of selling and have yet to be made aware that any formal offers will be received from top-flight rivals.
Quizzed on the exit rumours surrounding Ake, Howe told reporters: “I think that’s a compliment to Nathan and how he’s played since he signed for us permanently.
“He’s been a model of consistency. He picked up all the player awards that he did at the end of last season and he’s carried that form into this [season].
“With any type of speculation that you are linked with, the clubs he’s been mentioned with, it’s a good sign. However, that doesn’t mean we’re about to lose him. He’s a massive part of what we’re doing.
“[There has been] nothing from our side, where it comes from I don’t know. It’s inevitable [to be linked] when the team is doing well people will naturally highlight our players, potential players who can go on and play at a higher level.
“I look at it as a compliment to the team. It certainly won’t disrupt Nathan, knowing how level-headed he is. For him he’s such a good personality it won’t affect him in any way.”
Jose Mourinho is expected to be in the market for defensive additions over the winter, if he remains in the United dugout.
The Portuguese missed out on several targets over the summer and is eager to bolster his ranks.
Spurs are also starting to plan for the future, with uncertainty continuing to surround Toby Alderweireld – who has been linked with United – as he remains reluctant to commit to a new contract.
