After keeping three straight Premier League clean sheets in November, Mat Ryan has reportedly put himself on the radar of Manchester United.
With the Red Devils set to lose David De Gea between the sticks, the Australian is apparently one of Jose Mourinho’s top targets to replace him.
But Ryan himself isn’t getting carried away with the speculation admitting it’s part and parcel of professional football.
“Rumours float around all the time,” Ryan wrote for Players Voice.
“If I’d actually played for every team I’d been linked with through the years, I would have represented Real Madrid, Liverpool and quite a few others by now!
“It’s not something I think about, although it’s hard to ignore it completely when all your family and friends are messaging you to see whether it’s true.
“All I’ll say is this: I love doing what I’m doing and where I’m doing it.”
Ryan is contracted at Brighton until July 2022 meaning United would have to splash some considerable cash to seal his exit from the club.
Also worth noting is the fact Ryan grew up a huge Arsenal fan with the now 26-year-old revealing he use to get up at 4.30 am to watch Thierry Henry in full flight in the Champions League.
Unfortunately for Ryan, the Gunners are pretty well stocked when it comes to number ones with Bernd Leno and Petr Cech in a fierce battle to be their first-choice keeper.
Having starred for Brighton in October, Ryan was rewarded with the PFA’s player of the month award as his stock continues to rise.
