Neymar Insists He Is ‘Happy’ at PSG Despite Ongoing Exit Speculation Fanfare

Neymar has said he is “happy” where he is at Paris Saint-Germain, despite previously stating in public his desire to return to former club Barcelona.

The Brazilian has been mired in controversy from virtually the moment he broke the world transfer record to sign for the club in 2017.

Things came to a head in the summer when Neymar did everything he could to force through a return to ?Barcelona, but PSG stood firm when the Catalan giants refused to meet their lofty valuation.

Since then, ?Neymar has been forced to contend with a number of injury concerns, but seven goals in ten appearances this season have gone some way towards helping rebuild his relationship with the French champions. That despite reports that Liverpool forward Sadio Mané is being lined up as a potential replacement for him.

“I’m happy in Paris,” he told ?RMC Sport. “I’m happy when I play football.

“What I like best is being out on the field, no matter where I am. Where there are two posts, a ball and team-mates, I am happy.”

His positivity came after a starring performance that helped PSG round out their ?Champions League group campaign in style on Wednesday, scoring once and registering two assists in their 5-0 victory over Galatasaray.

Winning Europe’s premier club competition is the main aim for PSG, who have so far been unable to advance beyond the quarter-finals despite consistently ranking among the continent’s top spenders in recent seasons.

“It is important for us to still be in the competition come February, and it is very important for me too,” Neymar continued.

“I was not there last year and we have to think about the fans and do all we can to be at our best.”
