Barcelona Players Could Face Pay Cut of Up to 70% Due to Coronavirus Crisis

?Barcelona are said to be considering a pay cut of up to 70% for all of their players while the lockdown in Spain remains in place, while any measure would also apply equally to the women’s football teams, the B team, the Under-19s and all staff.

Governments have been forced into action as they look to slow the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. Spain has entered into lockdown, while other countries have also done the same.

As a result, the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and La Liga both recently confirmed that all football in Spain will be postponed indefinitely until experts say it is safe to return.

Any measure would also apply to the women’s football teams, the B team, the Under-19s as well as the basketball, handball, futsal and roller hockey teams. All staff working with those teams would also be included in this.

It is said that the players are ‘receptive’ to the reduction in wages, but no agreement has been reached as of yet. ?Barcelona held remote meetings late last week, while another was held on Tuesday, and it is explained that the club captains all responded positively.
