Tottenham Emerge as Possible Destination for Ivan Rakitic Amid Barcelona Fire Sale Plans

Tottenham Hotspur could make a move for Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakiti? ahead of the 2020/21 Premier League season, with the Croatian among a group of nine players who could leave the Camp Nou this summer.

Rakiti?, who was born in Switzerland, has spent the last six years at Barcelona following a £16m move from Sevilla, going on to make 299 appearances across all competitions, winning 16 major honours and even featuring in a World Cup final.

But as Rakiti? will be entering the last year of his contract next season, Barcelona want to offload the 32-year-old as well as eight other first-team players in an attempt to give their squad a facelift in the upcoming transfer market.

Rakiti? has already been linked with a handful of top clubs across Europe and Mundo Deportivo have now added Tottenham Hotspur to the list of potential suitors.

José Mourinho would apparently be interested in using Rakiti? instead of Tanguy Ndombele, who has struggled to make an impact under Tottenham’s new manager and is even being linked with a move away from the club – most notably to Barcelona.

Arsenal could also be an option for Rakiti? thanks to his relationship with Raul Sanllehi, but the Gunners are in a much weaker financial position and already have their priorities set on finding Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s long-term replacement.

Atlético Madrid and Juventus have also emerged as possible destinations for Rakiti? at the end of the season.

As well as selling the Croatian, Barcelona want to offload another eight players to help build up a transfer kitty which will allow them to reinvest before the 2020/21 season.

Antoine Griezmann, Luis Suárez and Ousmane Dembélé are the most high-profile names who the Daily Star reports will be up for sale, as well as Philippe Coutinho.

Their report also names Arturo Vidal, Samuel Umtiti, Nelson Semedo and Sergi Roberto as players who could be surplus to requirements in Catalonia.
