Manchester City cruised into the last 16 of the Champions League with a comfortable 1-0 win at Olympiacos on Wednesday evening.
City dominated proceedings and earned a well deserved breakthrough in the 36th minute, Phil Foden sweeping home Raheem Sterling’s back heel following a slick team move.
It proved decisive as City could not find a second goal that their dominance deserved, but marched into the knockout stages for the eighth year in a row.
Let’s get into some player ratings.

Ederson (GK) – 6/10 – Hardly troubled as Olympiacos failed to register a single shot on target.
Joao Cancelo (RB) – 7/10 – Drifted into the box after combining well with Rodri, but fired a good chance straight at Jose Sa. Picked out Foden with a terrific cross in the second half from which City could have extended their lead.
John Stones (CB) – 6/10 – Had very little to do defensively in a dominant City display. Won plenty in the air and kept the ball well.
Ruben Dias (CB) – 6/10 – Very few questions asked of Dias at centre back. Spent the majority of the game moving the ball around and keeping possession effectively.
Benjamin Mendy (LB) – 7/10 – Had a bit of joy with several raids forward and offered plenty of width with wingers Foden and Sterling preferring to tuck inside on either flank.

Rodri (CM) – 8/10 – City’s entire midfield three were awesome. Rodri dictated the tempo and was integral to City’s dominance.
Bernardo Silva (CM) – 7/10 – Flashed a good chance wide in the second half but was otherwise impressive, sharply and instinctively moving the ball around as City dominated.
Ilkay Gundogan (CM) – 7/10 – Much like his fellow midfielders Gundogan was assured on the ball as City moved Olympiacos around at will.

Raheem Sterling (FW) – 8/10 – Provided a fabulous assist for City’s opener, instinctively back heeling the ball to Foden, who fired home. Brought a good save out of Sa with a fizzing free kick on the stroke of half time.
Gabriel Jesus (ST) – 7/10 – Should have opened the scoring in the first half but was kept out by Sa. Linked up well with Foden and Sterling throughout.
Phil Foden (FW) – 8/10 – Swept home City’s opener with a crisp, first time finish from close range. So lively – elegantly glided across the pitch and produced a number of classy flicks and touches.
