Paul Pogba denies he’s held talks with Man Utd over new contract

Manchester United star Paul Pogba has denied he’s held any talks with the club over a new deal after rumours surfaced suggesting contract discussions between the two parties had begun.

The 28-year-old’s future at Old Trafford seems to have been the subject of intense speculation since he re-signed for the Red Devils back in 2016, and with just one year remaining on his current deal he’ll be free to talks to other clubs as of next January.

Having initially struggled to adapt to life back in Manchester, the Frenchman has now become a key part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side and appears much more settled at the club who handed him his professional debut almost a decade ago.

Pogba is currently away on international duty with France as he prepares for this summer’s Euro 2020 finals, though that hasn’t stopped the subject of his Manchester United future cropping up during press conferences and the midfielder has been forced to deny he’s held any contract talks with the club.

“I have one year left on my contract, everyone knows that,” he told reporters (via MEN). “There have been no concrete proposals for extensions. I’m still in Manchester.

“After the season there was the vacation, so I didn’t sit down with the managers and coach. I’m focused on the Euro.”

Having rubbished speculation he’s in talks to extend his stay in Manchester, naturally the next port of call was to ask whether Pogba intends on leaving United any time soon.

The Frenchman was asked whether he’d had any contact with Paris Saint-Germain over a possible move, though he again refused to be drawn on the topic and insisted he’s fully focused on winning the European Championship with France.

“Contacts with Paris? I have an agent that deals with all that,” he added. “I don’t have Nasser [PSG president Al-Khelaifi]’s number. My only thought, now, is the Euros. I’m focused. I’ve got more experience than before. I’m focused on the present, the Euros.”
