Harry Kane eyes Oktoberfest fun after breaking another Bayern Munich record

Harry Kane admitted he’s looking forward to a first visit to Oktoberfest after breaking another Bayern Munich record in the 7-0 thumping of Vfl Bochum.

The 30-year-old grabbed a first hat-trick in Bayern colours and set up another two goals as Thomas Tuchel’s side put seven past the visitors for the second successive season.

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting got Bayern up and running inside the first five minutes, with Kane doubling the advantage inside the first quarter of an hour, before goals from Matthijs de Ligt and Leroy Sane made it 4-0 at the interval, effectively ending the game as a contest.

Kane assisted Sane’s goal and was also on hand to set up Mathys Tel, who netted either side of the England captain’s second and third goals of the afternoon – the former coming from the penalty spot just days after he netted from 12 yards against Manchester United in the Bundesliga.

In addition to heading home with the match ball, Kane has also become the first Bayern Munich player to score more than five goals in the first five games of a Bundesliga season. His goalscoring antics surpass the achievements of Gerd Muller (in 1965), Miroslav Klose (in 2007) and Mario Mandzukic (in 2012), all of whom were able to net at a goal per game for the first five during their respective Bayern careers.

Kane has eight goals in all competitions this season, putting him on a par with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland, but his attention after the game was quickly switched to the club’s upcoming Oktoberfest celebrations – the two-week annual festival that originated in Munich way back in 1810 to celebrate the marriage of the crown prince of Bavaria.

“I’ve never been there before. I’m looking forward to it,” Kane said of Oktoberfest. “It will be a good feeling to celebrate there after the win. I want to get to know the culture – and there’s nothing better than being part of it tomorrow.”

Kane did provide further insight on Bayern’s dominating performance againat Bochum, adding: “We played so well today and had the right mentality. We made it look easy and had so much speed with the ball. Everyone was in top form today, it felt very good. I’m getting to know the team better with every game and things are going very well for me and for the team.”

Bayern have taken residence in their usual spot atop of the Bundesliga, picking up 13 points from a possible 15. They have scored 18 goals already, with Kane directly contributing to ten of those by scoring or assisting.
