Liverpool are continuing to monitor Fluminense midfielder Andre having been unable to sign him during the summer transfer window, sources have confirmed to 90min.
The Reds completely overhauled their midfield following a dismal 2022/23 season, and though they were unable to win the race for Real Madrid-bound Jude Bellingham, they brought in four of their key targets over the summer.
Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch arrived at Anfield, but Liverpool were intent on bringing in one other player prior to the deadline.
90min reported in early August that Liverpool were looking at 22-year-old Andre of Fluminense. At the time, he was seen as an alternative to Romeo Lavia, who would go on to snub Liverpool and join Chelsea.
However, Fluminense’s progression in the Copa Libertadores ended Liverpool’s hopes of a summer deal, with the Brazilian side making a run deep into the tournament and the midfielder was determined to see out their South American campaign.
90min understands that Liverpool scouts were present at Fluminense’s 2-1 win at Internacional in the second leg of their Copa Libertadores semi-final on Thursday.
Andre was one of the star performers as Fluminense progressed to the final with a 4-3 aggregate win and they will face Boca Juniors in November.
Liverpool will have been impressed by his most recent performance and they have continually checked in with his progress following on from their summer transfer saga.
90min previously reported that Fulham had held talks with Fluminense about Andre but he would prefer to join a team in consistent European contention, which would give Liverpool the edge if they were to firm up their interest in next year.
