Few positions are more important to the modern game than a right-back.
Whether you want an auxilliary attacker, an out-and-out defender or somebody to test out the new inverted full-back role, Football Manager 2024 has plenty of options for you to sign regardless of how much money you’re working with.
Here are 90min‘s recommendations for right-backs to sign with any budget.
You can always rely on Inter in search of a bargain. In defence, Darmian is yours for just £3.9m, and he’s perfect for any mid-table club wanting a starter or even a top side looking for cover across the entire back line.
24-year-old Mura will set you back £5m. He’s a defensive-minded player who’s a natural in the new inverted full-back role.
£3.3m feels like a bit of a steal for Gendrey, whose stats page is full of 14s. He might not be a superstar but he looks as reliable as anybody.
Another well-rounded player, Garay is perfect for any team looking for somebody to come in and shore up the right-back spot. He’s yours for just £1.7m.
You’ll need some hefty wages to land Meunier, as well as some patience while he recovers from injury, but his £1.2m asking price should make it all worth it.
A centre-back by trade, Seidu is comfortable out on the right and another who would fit perfectly in the inverted full-back role. £4.5m should land him.
Rounding us off here is Hurtado. The 21-year-old, who will cost £3.5m, looks really solid and brings some great re-sell value as well.
One of the emerging stars of Spanish football, Martinez’s release clause is just £8.5m, which is a steal considering he can shine for your team for the next decade.
Maffeo comes with a £21.5m release clause but just £9.25m should convince Mallorca to sell. He’s a great athlete who defends well and can do a job in attack.
So attack-minded that he can actually play up in midfield, Molina is one of the most well-rounded players you’ll find and he can be yours for £16.5m.
Still only 29, Hysaj is a natural on both sides of defence and offers amazing value for his £9.5m price tag.
Former Barcelona man Mingueza can shine on the right or in the centre of defence. He’s another who is defence-first, with 15 tackling his stand-out stat.
For £11m, you can land Canada international Johnston from Celtic. While he may not have any stats that leap off the page, his well-rounded style of play should make him easy to work with.
Walker-Peters is far too good to be playing in the Championship. For £19.5m, get yourself a top player who can help you out on both sides.
United will sell you Wan-Bissaka for a cool £31m, which feels like a bargain for somebody with a whopping 20 tackling.
Foyth’s £36m release clause is worth considering as he’s among the best right-backs (and centre-backs) available. His mental stats are superb, as is his 16 tackling.
Vanderson is great now, with 15 crossing and 14 dribbling already making him a lot of fun, but the 22-year-old comes with some high potential that should justify the £22m spend to get him.
You’ll need a big wage budget to convince Carvajal to leave Madrid but, with an asking price of just £15m, that shouldn’t be a problem. After all, he’s one of the best defenders in the world.
Elite on both sides of the pitch, Henrichs is a great buy at £22m. He’s another who does his best work in defence, with 15 tackling and 14 passing making him a great fit for any team.
22-year-old Boey is a star of the future, but he already boasts 16 tackling and 14 marking. Thanks to his high work rate and determination, he’ll blossom into a star in no time. £25m will do the job.
