Liverpool’s quest to win a historic quadruple came to an end in the most traumatic was possible on Sunday at Old Trafford.
The Reds fell to arch rivals Manchester United in the FA Cup quarter-final, losing a seven goal thriller thanks a 121st minute goal from Amad Diallo.
Here’s Liverpool’s best and worst players in the heartbreaking defeat, courtesy of 90min’s esteemed player ratings.
Alexis Mac Allister: 7/10
Many tipped Alexis Mac Allister to be the best signing made by any Premier League club during the 2023 summer transfer window. Fast forward to the tail-end of his maiden season at Liverpool, and it’s fair to say that the Argentine has more than lived up to the hype.
The midfielder was once again at his dynamic and brilliant best on Sunday, scoring Liverpool’s first goal and winning eight duels in the middle of the park.
Wataru Endo: 5/10
While Mac Allister excelled by winning eight duels, his midfield partner Wataru Endo lost eight duels and struggled to really asset himself on Sunday.
He’s been utterly brilliant recently, but just wasn’t quite at the races at Old Trafford during a frenetic game of football
Dishonourable mention
Jarell Quansah: 5/10
Quansah has more than held his own since breaking into Jurgen Klopp’s plans at Anfield this season, however his performance on Sunday did leave a little to be desired.
The towering defender failed to win any of his tackle attempts and struggled to keep up with the pacey Marcus Rashford during the 4-3 defeat to Man Utd.
