Joao Felix reveals Bernardo Silva is keen on Barcelona move

Joao Felix has revealed Portugal teammate Bernardo Silva has shown an interest in signing for Barcelona.

Amid swirling transfer speculation linking Silva with a potential move to Catalonia, Felix’s endorsement of his compatriot adds tremendous weight to the scenario.

Reports from Spain have claimed Silva has a growing interest in joining Barca, further fuelling the intense rumours surrounding the Portuguese maestro.

It is also worth noting that the midfielder has a release clause of £50m in his City contract which kicks in from this summer.

Speaking to Jijantes FC, Felix stated he would be keen on Silva joining him at Barcelona and the two have spoken about such a prospect.

“If I were Deco [Barcelona’s sporting director] for a day, I would sign Bernardo Silva without a doubt,” Felix said.

“Let them bring him. Have you seen him play? He’s even better as a person. He’s from [Joao] Cancelo’s generation. Now players last until they are 35 to 36 years old. His sister-in-law is here, [he’s asked me] about how things are here, the weather, tax issues…I told him it’s all right for him to come.

“I don’t think Manchester City will make it easy. For €58m, I would bring him, even for €60-70 million.”

Felix also disclosed that Silva would aspire to wear a prestigious shirt at Barca – a jersey once adorned by club legend Lionel Messi – should he make the move.

“He would like to wear the number 10,” Felix added. “It’s a very important number at the club, you can’t give it to just anyone, you have to be careful. It’s my favourite number, but I’ve never worn it.”

If the Catalan giants choose to pursue Silva in the upcoming transfer window, they will likely need to sell some of their current assets to adhere to La Liga’s strict financial regulations.

Felix and Cancelo are not even guaranteed to be at Barcelona next season as their existing loans expire this summer.
