Barcelona ‘agree personal terms’ with Euro 2024 winner as €61m bid submitted

Barcelona have agreed personal terms with RB Leipzig midfielder Dani Olmo as they continue to work towards a deal to re-sign the Euro 2024 winner, a report has revealed.

Fellow Spain star Nico Williams is also a target for Barcelona but there have been numerous reports suggesting the winger has now decided to remain with Athletic Club for the coming campaign.

With their focus now on Olmo, Fabrizio Romano states that Barcelona have struck a deal over personal terms with the 26-year-old, who is incredibly interested in making the move back to Camp Nou.

A six-year contract has now been agreed between Olmo and Barcelona, who are now working to reach an agreement with Leipzig over a transfer fee.

Barcelona’s latest offer includes a guaranteed fee of €55m, plus €4m in easy add-ons and €3m in difficult add-ons, taking the total to €61m. While that is higher than the €60m release clause in Olmo’s contract which recently expired, it revolves around more favourable payment terms for a club who simply cannot afford to pay that amount up front.

SPORT, however, state Leipzig are not impressed by Barcelona’s offer and are likely to reject their bid.

Leipzig’s primary issue is understood to be the proposed payment schedule. The German side want as much of the money as soon as possible, whereas Barcelona are trying to spread the payment out for as long as possible.

Indeed, it is said that Barcelona are trying to postpone paying the majority of that fee until the summer of 2025.

Despite the differences between the two sides, further progress is expected over the coming days. Barcelona sporting director Deco is now focusing on the Olmo deal, although he has not yet formally given up hope of uniting him with fellow Spain star Williams.
