The news that the club are thinking big, with move for Real Madrid’s Gonzalo Higuain will come as a massive relief to Arsenal fans after years of frugality and summers of losing their own stars.

Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis promised ‘an escalation in our financial firepower’ last week and Wenger is convinced he can transform his team into title contenders.

The Arsenal manager believes that Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement from Manchester United represents an opportunity for the for the club to regain some prestige and challenge for the title and the signing of Argentina striker Higuain is expected to be their most important transfer of the summer at a cost of £20million.

Boss Arsene Wenger has targeted the Argentinian hitman and is understood to have met with the player and his father who is his agent. Arsenal are discussing personal terms with Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain. The Sun says Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has made it clear that Arsenal want Higuain. They are prepared to give him a wage of £150,000-a-week.

Higuain’s signing would not necessarily mean the end of efforts to get Manchester United’s wantaway striker Wayne Rooney. Arsenal have the money for both of them. If Arsenal do sign Higuain, they have premier league odds of 16/1 to be crowned champions next season.

Higuain admitted during the week: “Arsenal? That would suit me. I’m still young and have more goals to score.”

Real have told Higuain he can leave for the right price and he is ready for a new challenge At the age of 25, Higuain would represent a solid investment by Arsenal on a man who has proved himself at the top level.

Manuel Pellegrini’s first job if and when he takes over at Manchester City could be to turn his head back to Spain and begin outlining transfer targets.

 

He is most likely going to plunder his former club Malaga, for the players there have effectively earned the Chilean Manchester City’s attention following a run in the Champions League this season that almost saw Malaga reach the semi finals.

 

According to recent football betting news, Pellegrini will be given a significant transfer hoard to restructure the City team and the first man he will look to sign is Isco, Malaga’s 21-year-old starlet with 11 goals to his name this season.

 

The attacking midfielder was a major force during Malaga’s Champions League campaign and is available if City match a £27 million release clause, although Malaga will probably accept a low offer.

 

Another Malaga midfielder likely to be on Pellegrini’s list is 23-year-old Ignacio Camacho, who has impressed many fans of Premier League betting for his high workrate and commitment to protecting the back four.

 

Camacho would be a great replacement for Gareth Barry should the Englishman drop out of Pellegrini’s plans, while he would give YayaToure both competition and the freedom to move further up the field.

 

Of course, Pellegrini and City have been linked with a host of other superstars this summer including Napoli’s Edison Cavani and RadamelFalcao of Atletico Madrid. Naturally the new boss wants the best players available but there is no guaranteeing Pellegrini wants these star strikers even if City fans do.

 

A more likely signing is Sevilla’s Jesus Navas, who at 27 has exactly the sort of mentality City need to progress in the Champions League. Pellegrini may well stage a swap deal with David Silva or Samir Nasri to bring Navas to the club, for both players are staring the Eastlands exit door in the face.

 

No matter who the next boss is City fans can be assured they face a chop and change transfer period this summer as the club once again restructures under new management.
