Chelsea And Arsenal Close To Van der Wiel?

Ajax full back Gregory Van Der Wiel has invited Chelsea to sign him from the Eredivisie champions in a recent interview to Sky Sports news, but Arsenal might have a say as well..

The 23 year old defender has been linked with a move to the European champions this summer but the player admits complete ignorance of such rumors. However, the Dutchman was quick to add that he wouldn’t hesitate to jump at the opportunity to play for the London club.

“I didn’t hear anything from my manager, I think it is just rumors and we will see in the future what comes,” van der Wiel told Sky Sports News.

“Yeah of course I would (like to join), it is a beautiful club.

“I watch a lot of English football and they won the Champions League and it was a great performance.”

Chelsea have recently released their Portuguese right back Jose Bosingwa and are thought to be looking at Van Der Wiel to fill up the vacancy in the defense. However, with the club brushing aside rumors of a possible transfer involving their Serbian defender Ivanovic, it is to be seen if the big spending Blues are still keen to land the Ajax player. The situation would turn in favor for their London rivals Arsenal in that case, with Wenger mulling over a possible move for the Dutchman given Bacary Sagna’s injury woes. Robin Van Persie can prove to be a deciding factor as the Gunners captain will look to persuade his fellow countryman to join Arsenal.

With Van der Wiel clearly sounding out his suitors, it will be an interesting battle to sign the highly rated right back. Which half of London will the Ajax player end up at?

Manchester United Agree Kagawa Deal

Manchester United have made their first signing of the transfer season after the club’s website confirmed having ‘reached an agreement’ with the Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund over Shinji Kagawa’s transfer.

The 23 year old Japanese was considered to be a top target for the Reds this summer and after weeks of speculation they have finally managed to land the highly rated playmaker. The recently voted Bundesliga player of the year has been the subject of interest of many clubs including Arsenal but United have finally beaten them to his signature.

The transfer amount is yet unknown although it is believed to be in the region of £17m, but the club’s website has confirmed that deal has been struck and is subject ‘to the player medical and obtaining a work permit in UK’. Kagawa forged a lethal partnership with Lewandowski at Dortmund and is expected to play a similar role alongside Wayne Rooney at Manchester.

Shinji Kagawa joins a host of top players who have recently joined the Premier League, and everybody hopes that he’ll be one of the best out there.

Injury may jeopardise M’Vila transfer to Arsenal

Arsenal’s top transfer target Yann M’Vila’s participation in the Euro championships is under serious threat after picking up an injury during France’s friendly against Serbia from earlier this week.

M’Vila broke down and was being carried off the field and from the initial looks of it, the injury seemed to be a serious one. However, the French medical staffs have ruled out the possibility of the Rennes midfielder having to miss the showpiece tournament as they believe the injury isn’t a serious one. The 21 year old was recently quoted saying that he has had such injuries in the past and he isn’t optimistic of a quick return to football.

‘Yann M’Vila is suffering from a moderately serious sprain with no complications,’ read a French official statement.

Arsene Wenger has looking at the strong defensive midfielder wishing bolster his midfield and has long wanted to sign him. This injury seems to have dealt a huge blow to the chances of a move since the Arsenal boss isn’t willing to take a risk unless the seriousness of the player’s injury is fully estimated.

M’Vila is one of the main men in Laurent Blanc’s side and has been vocal about his intentions of leaving Rennes this season. If the injury is not serious as it’s being reported to be, then it is likely Wenger will look to strike a deal with the Ligue 1 club after the Euros.

Should Arsenal try to sign M’Vila?

PSG join City in hunt for top Milan defender

Former Rossoneri manager and current PSG boss Carlo Ancelotti has enquired about the availability of Thiago Silva according to Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani.s

Ancelotti signed the highly rated Brazilian defender from Fluminense during his time as the Milan coach, and with the French club’s Qatari owners having given the manager the go ahead to sign top players, it is understood Ancelotti is keen on reuniting with the 27 year old center back.

Galliani said: “Is it true Ancelotti asked me about Thiago? Absolutely yes.

“If we only thought about money, the best thing would be to sell Thiago but we don’t make such considerations.

However, the Milan vice-president stopped short of ruling out a move completely and expressed his strong desire to ward off any interest as much as possible.

Dirk Kuyt Joins Fenerbahce

Dirk Kuyt has left Anfield and joined Turkish side Fenerbahce on a three year deal for a fee rumored to be around £1m.

The Dutch winger lost his place in the Liverpool starting line up last season under former manager Kenny Dalglish. In an interview just a week back, Kuyt had made his intentions to leave the Merseyside club clear, but his decision to play in the Super Lig has surprised many. It is understood that the 31 year old is taking a significant pay cut as well to make the transfer happen, which is even more weird.

Feyenoord, Kuyt’s former club, were extremely keen on signing the Dutchman but the player ruled out the possibility of a move last week citing the club’s inability to meet his wage demands. Although the details of the contract are still not clear, it is likely that the prospect of playing Champions League football next term attracted Kuyt.

The hard working winger who joined Liverpool in 2006 has managed to win just one silverware with the Reds, the League Cup. The highlight of his last season would be his winning goal against United in the FA Cup after coming on as a substitute in the dying minutes of the game. Dirk Kuyt has always been a favorite among the Anfield faithful and the player thanked the fans for their support after announcing his decision to leave.
