Mascherano: Decision on August 5th

August 5th will no longer be just an ordinary day. This is the day Javier Mascherano will return to Liverpool for the first time since his vacation after the World Cup. Only at that time will new Liverpool boss, Roy Hodgson, get a chance to sit down and talk with the Argentine, who has been ignoring Hodgson’s calls while on vacation. Who knows if the new boss can convince the midfielder to stay on board with Steven Gerrard? Inter are obviously in the running for Mascherano should he decide to leave Anfield, as the Nerazzurri see the Liverpool man as the perfect partner for Esteban Cambiasso in the midfield. However, should Hodgson convince El Jefecito to stay in Liverpool, Marco Branca will turn to Plan B. Bastian Schweinsteiger is a name that has attracted many eyes at the San Siro, including those of Nerazzurri president Massimo Moratti. Of course the two players are very different, and the German would be used more as an alternative to Dejan Stankovic, the 32-year-old is beginning to need a replacement. For now, we must wait and see and should not be surprised to see deals ending right before the deadline in August.

Milner close to City

England ace, James Milner was one of top priorites this summer for Man City. They already sent an offer (£20m) to Aston Villa, but Villa rejected the offer, saying he is not for sale.

But it looks like, the things have changed now.  With Balotelli talks still ongoing we have to see if City will now go for Milner instead of Balotelli, for whom Inter is asking more than £30m, or maybe try to get them both.

But one thing is clear, Mancini loves Milner as a player. “Milner is a good player, but today he is an Aston Villa player.” “If we have this chance [to sign Milner] I think we can take him, but we must wait now.”, said Mancini according to Sky news.

Dzeko and Misimovic staying in Wolfsburg?

Wolfsburg has announced that their two best players, Bosnian internationals, Dzeko and Misimovic will not be sold this summer. Although both of them have more than just a few offers, Wolfsburg doesnt want to sell them.

“We have decided to end the recurring speculation: both Edin Dzeko and Zvjezdan Misimovic will be staying at Wolfsburg, no matter what offers come in for them.”

“We did not want this speculation to become endless as we move closer to the start of the season. It made no sense to continue going around in circles. Now everybody can concentrate on the new season.

“Furthermore, both players have clear contracts which don’t leave any room for misinterpretation. There was not a single offer for either of them anyway so this discussion was only virtual.”

“I am convinced that our decision will have no effect on the performances of Edin and ‘Zwetschge’,” said the club’s managing director Dieter Hoeness, according to PA..

David Villa: “Barca is better than Inter”

Unexpected words came from David Villa. Eventhough Inter eliminated Barcelona in semi finals of Champions League, the new Barcelona player said: “Barcelona and Inter have different styles, I prefer the Catalans. Barca is much stronger than Inter, i am sure, that if Barca and Inter would play 10 finals, Barca would win 9 of them. ”

Spain’s most efficient player in this years World Cup is already trying to get in touch with the fans, and for now, he is doing good job.
