BREAKING NEWS: Cruzeiro confirm Wellington Paulista to join West Ham on loan

One transfer that has been ruled out is Robbie Keane, who has stressed he will not look for a loan deal to the Premier League as he wants a break before the MLS season restarts in March:

“It’s been a long season, with the Euros and what have you,” he told Sky Sports.

“I’ve a few little niggles that need to be sorted out so I don’t think at this moment in time it would be right for me to go anywhere.

“I had another year left and [Galaxy] offered me a new contract at the end of last season. I’ve just signed a new two-year contract.”

Holtby: I am fulfilling my dream by joining Tottenham

Lewis Holtby says moving to Tottenham in the summer is a chance to ‘fulfil his dreams’ of Premier League football, but insists he will give his all for current side Schalke until the end of the season.

The 22-year-old midfielder sparked a scramble for his signature between Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs after declining a new deal with the Bundesliga club, and has signed a pre-contract agreement with the White Hart Lane club.

Despite deciding that his future lies away from the Veltins-Arena, the Germany Under-21 international insists he will go “full-throttle” for the Royal Blues to repay the club for the fond memories of his time there.

“I thought long about the decision I’ve made,” he told reporters. “I want to take my chance to fulfil my dream. I have dreamed about the Premier League since I was a boy.

“I have asked myself many questions. What happens next year? Is it too early? Schalke’s offer was good, but did not work out.

“Tottenham are a top club and I’m fulfilling my dream. Negotiations with Schalke were initially advanced, but then I looked over it all carefully again. I have spoken to Andre Villas-Boas and I am confident in his plans.”

The promising midfielder says he is grateful for his time at the Bundesliga club, and reveals that the decision was a tough one to make – but he believes it is the right one in order to progress his career.

He continued: “It was a brave decision, but so far in my career, these decisions have been right. I talked to a lot of my closest friends about the change, then I came to this decision.

“At the moment, it says that I will leave Schalke in the summer, but you never know in football.

“I have always been honest and true. Schalke mean a lot to me. I will respect the opinion of the fans. I would like to thank everyone at Schalke in advance for the great time I’ve had here.

“I will not let off – I will go full-throttle until the last minute for Schalke. The fans need to know this.”

Arsenal defender Djourou joins Hannover on loan until end of the season

Arsenal centre-back Johan Djourou has joined Bundesliga side Hannover on loan until the end of the season after failing to feature for the Gunners in a single Premier League game in the 2012-13 campaign.

The 25-year-old centre-back has only made two appearances in total for Arsene Wenger’s team this season in the Capital One Cup, with Thomas Vermaelen, Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker all ahead of him in the pecking order.

And with Die Roten’s president Martin Kind previously declaring his club were “very interested” in Djourou, the Switzerland international has agreed a move until the end of the current season.

A statement on Arsenal’s official website read: “Everyone at Arsenal would like to wish Johan well for his time in Germany.”

Djourou is currently contracted to Arsenal until 2015, but Hannover are hopeful a permanent deal can be agreed at the end of the season if the player performs well in Germany.

Werder Bremen keen to keep on-loan Chelsea starlet De Bruyne

Werder Bremen coach Thomas Schaaf says the Bundesliga side want to keep Kevin De Bruyne beyond this season.

The Belgium international has spent the season on-loan in Germany to experience first-team football after joining Chelsea from Genk last year.

The 21-year old has impressed at the Weserstadion and Schaaf is keen to have De Bruyne at the club permanently.

“I would be kind of stupid not to want to keep such an exceptionally talented player at our club longer,” Schaaf told Deutsche Pressagentur.

“Of course, we will have to wait and see what Chelsea intend to decide on De Bruyne’s future.

“Generally, he has been a big boost for our squad. We profit because he is giving his best in the games for our club and we offer him every chance to impress while he is on loan.

“He’s a great player. And Kevin told me recently how much he enjoys being at Werder Bremen.

“It’s obvious that he has not yet reached his own maximum. I would be delighted to keep on working with him beyond the end of the season, that’s for sure.”

De Bruyne has scored four goals and made five assists in 17 league games for the Bundesliga side this season.
