Oasis pay tribute to England’s Lionesses at Wembley gig after Euro 2025 triumph

Oasis paid tribute to England’s Euro-winning Lionesses during a recent gig at Wembley – with several of the squad in the crowd to witness the shoutout in person.

Back on the road for the first time since 2009, the Gallagher brothers have been lighting up sold-out arenas across the globe with their long-awaited reunion tour. And at one of their latest stops – a euphoric night at Wembley Stadium – the band delivered more than just nostalgic hits.

Among the 90,000-strong crowd were some of the Lionesses’ Euro 2025 heroes, including goalkeeper Hannah Hampton, whose shootout heroics secured England’s win over Spain in the final.

Ahead of launching into their classic Roll With It, Liam Gallagher paused to dedicate the track to “the actual Lionesses,” sparking roars of approval from the crowd.

Elsewhere in the crowd, Alessia Russo, who scored England’s equaliser in the final, was spotted chatting with Noel Gallagher’s daughter Anaïs. Russo, Hampton and fellow teammate Alex Greenwood also posed with former Spice Girl Geri Horner, sporting Oasis-branded Adidas jackets like true superfans.

Later in the night, Greenwood shared a clip of the band’s emotional encore performance of Don’t Look Back In Anger.

The Lionesses aren’t the only footballers who’ve turned out for an Oasis reunion.

Manchester City duo Pep Guardiola and Jack Grealish were also spotted at the band’s Heaton Park show earlier this summer.

Guardiola was seen belting out Don’t Look Back in Anger before heading backstage to meet the Gallagher families, while Grealish – amid rumours of a potential move away from the Etihad – was filmed declaring his love for City in a heartfelt late-night moment.

Former Liverpool forward finds new profession as footgolf star – and he’s really good at it

Former Liverpool striker Florent Sinama-Pongolle has found a new home on the fairways – trading the roar of Anfield for the quiet precision of professional footgolf.

The ex-France international, who made 65 appearances and scored nine goals for the Reds (including a crucial strike against Olympiacos in the 2004/05 Champions League run), has taken up the rising hybrid sport where football meets the golf course, and he’s quickly making his mark.

Representing HAC FootGolf – a club based in Le Havre, where he once played on loan – Sinama-Pongolle recently shared a series of slick clips on Instagram, including a long-range putt that drew praise from fans. The footage was shot at Golf de Saint Donat, a lush course just outside Cannes.

According to FootGolf France, the sport’s national governing body, he’s currently ranked 31st in the country – a strong showing for a relatively fresh face.

And he’s not the only one swapping studs for soft spikes either. Anthony Le Tallec, a fellow Champions League winner and former Liverpool teammate, also lines up for HAC FootGolf, making for an unexpectedly nostalgic duo on the greens.

From Merseyside to the Côte d’Azur – Sinama-Pongolle’s second act might be even smoother than his first.

Nike release stunning FC Barcelona x Kobe Bryant collection, including track jacket and Air Force 1s

Two icons. One unforgettable legacy. Nike has unveiled a bold new FC Barcelona x Kobe Bryant collection – a powerful fusion of basketball greatness and football tradition, honouring the late NBA legend with serious style.

At the heart of the drop is Barça’s 2025/26 away kit: a striking gold jersey with rich violet and black detailing, subtly textured with a snakeskin print – a nod to Kobe’s Black Mamba persona – and finished with his logo alongside the club crest.

But the magic doesn’t stop there.

From training tops and sweatshirts to tees, shorts and anthem jackets, the apparel line brings the same energy. A standout GX track jacket leads the charge – snake-textured, jet black and edged with purple – capturing that unmistakable Mamba mentality in every thread.

Then there’s the footwear: a striking pair of Kobe x FCB Air Force 1s in deep purple; a gold-clad Kobe 4 Protro echoing Barca’s away kit’s tones; and a pair of slick post-match sliders to complete the look.

Barcelona introduced the collection on Instagram with a fitting tribute: “Two icons, one shared story.
A collaboration born from mutual admiration and the values that unite us: talent, commitment, and passion.”

Kobe Bryant’s connection with Barcelona ran deep. He visited Camp Nou several times, played charity matches in Barça colours and spoke often of his admiration for the team.

This drop honours that bond – and the legacy of a man whose influence continues to inspire, both on the court and far beyond it.

Bend It Like Beckham sequel in the works after 22 years, director confirms

More than two decades after it first hit cinemas and captured hearts around the world, a sequel to Bend It Like Beckham is officially in development.

Director Gurinder Chadha has confirmed that a follow-up to the 2002 cult football classic is on the way – with the aim of launching it in 2027 to mark both the film’s 25th anniversary and the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

The original, which starred Parminder Nagra and Keira Knightley, followed the story of Jess and Jules – two teenagers defying cultural and societal norms to chase their love for football. Packed with laughs, tears, family drama and triumphant moments, it quickly became one of the most beloved football movies of all time.

Now, Chadha says the time feels right to return to that world.

“A lot has changed since the original movie,” she told the BBC. “But I think that people still don’t think that women should play football. There are people who still don’t take it seriously.”

She added that the explosion of interest in women’s football, especially after England’s Lionesses won Euro 2025, has made the idea of a sequel feel particularly relevant.

While the form is still to be decided – whether a film or TV series – Chadha hopes to bring back some of the original cast and teased the possibility of cameos from current England internationals.

“I’m pretty certain that everyone’s going to want to come back,” she said. “Everything hinges on the script and if the original cast likes it. I am working really hard to make sure every character I bring back has a decent arc.”

And while David Beckham may no longer be the poster boy of English football, the spirit of the story lives on. So what will they call it this time? Bend It Like Kelly? Time will tell.

Newcastle United go green again with 2025/26 away kit

Newcastle United have unveiled their new away kit for the 2025/26 season – and green is back on the menu.

After last season’s claret and blue stripes, the Magpies return to a bold green colourway that’s fast becoming a signature look in their post-takeover era.

Crafted by adidas, the shirt features an all-over tonal print inspired by the sweeping arches of the Tyne Bridge – a proud symbol of the city. White detailing on the collar, cuffs and branding keeps things clean, while a v-neck design and subtle ‘NUFC’ sign-off at the back of the neck add sharp finishing touches.

The full kit is completed with white shorts marked by adidas’ iconic three stripes in green, and matching green socks featuring a small Magpie crest.

Speaking about the launch, club captain Bruno Guimarães said: “I think this new away kit looks great – I love all of our kits for this season. I’m sure our fans will love them too, because they represent who we are and what it means to wear the Newcastle United badge.”

While green has made occasional appearances in past Newcastle kits, its prominence in recent years – including the full green strip from 2022/23 – reflects a new chapter for the club.

Many have drawn comparisons to the Saudi Arabian national team’s colours, a likely nod to the club’s current ownership group.

Still, with the team thriving on the pitch since the takeover, most fans will agree – if the wins keep coming, they won’t mind what colour the shirts are.
