Ajax release sleek 2025/26 third kit paying tribute to the history of Amsterdam

Ajax have revealed their new third kit for the 2025/26 season – a clean and considered design that pays tribute to the club’s home city and its long-standing history.

Produced by adidas, the kit arrives in a beige tone inspired by the oldest known reference to Amsterdam – a toll privilege granted in 1275 by Count Floris V of Holland to residents living “near the Amsteldam”. It’s a nod to where it all began, tying the club and city’s shared heritage into a single design.

Blue and dark red detailing adds a touch of contrast, while a modern take on Amsterdam’s oldest city seal is printed inside the neck.

Just like Ajax’s home and away shirts this season, the third kit also features a special neck banner highlighting the city’s founding year (1275), its anniversary year (2025), and the three Saint Andrew’s Crosses – a key symbol of Amsterdam’s identity.

Simple but full of meaning, it’s a shirt that looks to the past while keeping one eye on the present.

The Ajax 2025/26 third kit is available now from the Ajax webshop, adidas.com and selected global retailers.

Man City’s Josko Gvardiol gears up for new season with ‘real commando mission’

While most footballers spend the off-season unwinding on a beach or sticking to light training, Josko Gvardiol had a very different idea: become a full-blown action hero.

Ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, the Manchester City defender threw himself into a “real-life commando mission” back home in Croatia – courtesy of Commando Squad 9, a company that turns tactical video game-style war scenarios into immersive, real-world experiences.

Decked out in full military-style gear, Gvardiol took part in a full range of simulated combat challenges.

Photos shared on his Instagram showed the Croatian centre-back storming through forests, blending into the terrain, navigating water missions, and even mock-choking an “enemy” – all with airsoft replicas and professional supervision.

“The ultimate mental and physical prep for the upcoming season!” Gvardiol captioned his post. “@commandos_9 is the transformation of a tactical video game into reality – all airsoft replicas, and with these pros, I felt 100% safe.”

“I’ve always wanted to know what it feels like to be part of a special forces team and complete a real commando mission,” he added.

Fancy living out your own war movie fantasy? You can – but the packages start at a steep £7,000. A sun lounger in Tenerife might be the safer (and cheaper) bet.

Nike bring back spirit of ‘Joga Bonito’ with latest kit drop

Few football shirts stir nostalgia quite like Brazil’s early-2000s Nike Total 90 kit – a design synonymous with swagger, style, and pure footballing joy.

Originally worn between 2004 and 2006 by a golden generation including Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, and Rivaldo, the iconic shirt has now returned as part of Nike’s growing T90 retro collection.

Drenched in that unmistakable canary yellow, the reissued shirt stays true to the original blueprint: deep green accents on the collar, cuffs, and trim, the classic side-positioned Swoosh, and the all-important centralised Brazil crest that defined the era.

It’s a visual time capsule from the golden age of “Joga Bonito” – and Nike is making sure a new generation can feel its magic.

In addition to the blank version, there’s a special-edition tribute to Ronaldinho – a player who not only defined the look but embodied the spirit of the era.

This variant features his name on the back in Total 90’s distinctive dotted lettering and his iconic No. 10 stamped inside the classic circle motif on the front. A fitting homage to the man who made football look like art.

Pep Guardiola draws Ted Lasso comparisons with bold new look

Pep Guardiola has switched up his style – and Manchester City fans are loving the new ‘Ted Lasso’ energy.

As City prepare for a brief pre-season, Guardiola was spotted visiting Barcelona’s Monarka Clinic, known for cutting-edge recovery treatments. But it wasn’t the clinic that caught everyone’s eye – it was Pep’s new clean-shaven face, ditching his signature beard for just a moustache.

The fresh look immediately sparked comparisons to Jason Sudeikis’s beloved fictional coach from Apple TV’s “Ted Lasso” – a show Pep himself once appeared in.

One City fan joked: “Pep Guardiola now has a moustache inspired by Ted Lasso as he aims to turn things around after Manchester City’s disastrous last season.”

Another chimed in, quoting Lasso’s iconic line: “I believe” – perfectly capturing the hope behind Pep’s bold new style and fresh start.

Guardiola’s cameo on “Ted Lasso” came during the penultimate episode of Season 3.

In a heartfelt moment after a game between the fictional AFC Richmond and City, Guardiola told Sudeikis’s titular coach: “Don’t worry about wins or losses. Just help these guys be the best version of themselves on and off the pitch. This, at the end, is the most important thing.”

Lasso replied: “I couldn’t agree more, coach.”

When reflecting on his guest spot, Pep shared: “As a family, my little daughter Valentina and my wife enjoy watching the show a lot. We’re big fans, and when they offered me a cameo, I thought, why not? It was great to meet the actors.”

With a fresh ’stache and a whole lot of optimism, Pep is ready to bring that same spirit to City’s next chapter.
