Liverpool legends take on shot power challenge – and find out who strikes hardest

Few footballer players have ever struck a ball quite like former Liverpool duo Steven Gerrard and John Arne Riise – Gerrard with his thunderous right foot, Riise with his cannon of a left.

Both are remembered for iconic goals: Gerrard’s stoppage-time rocket in the 2006 FA Cup final, and Riise’s unstoppable free-kick against Manchester United in 2001.

But after years of debate over who really had the hardest shot, the two Reds legends finally put it to the test – and Riise came out on top.

The contest took place the day before the Nexon Icons legends match at the Seoul World Cup Stadium. The two sets of players went head-to-head in a series of challenges, including one that saw Gerrard and Riise blasting balls at a specially-built prop lined with stacked sheets designed to test raw power.

Riise’s strike proved the stronger, smashing through the entire obstacle and drawing gasps from the South Korean crowd. Gerrard’s effort, while still powerful, only made it partway through.

The moment sparked huge cheers – and laughter – from the players and fans alike. Riise later shared the footage on Instagram with the caption: “Memories made today. The welcome we have from the fans in Korea is insane!” Gerrard replied in good spirits, dropping a simple laughing emoji.

As for the exhibition game itself, Riise had the last laugh once again. His team of legendary defenders beat Gerrard’s team of attackers 2-1, thanks to late goals from Maicon and Jooho Park.

Riise 2, Gerrard nil.

adidas drop new Lamine Yamal signature F50 boots in vibrant pink

adidas have once again teamed up with Barcelona’s teenage superstar Lamine Yamal to launch the second edition of his signature boots – a personalised take on the iconic F50s.

Arriving in a bold mix of vibrant pink and purple with neon lemon detailing, the boots are every bit as eye-catching as Yamal’s dazzling performances on the pitch.

The iconic Three Stripes fade smoothly from white into pink, while light pink and lilac snakeskin-style graphics cover the upper. A solid purple heel and matching soleplate tie it together, with Yamal’s name standing out in bright yellow under a clear finish.

The release also marks a milestone moment with the debut of Yamal’s official logo.

Inspired by his Rocafonda roots in Zone 304, the bold square-shaped design fuses his initials “LY” with the final digits of his neighbourhood’s postal code, reflecting his identity and connection to Mataró.

Drawing inspiration from classic F50 silhouettes but reimagined with modern flair, the boots make one thing clear: this isn’t just another drop – it’s a statement. World football’s brightest young talent has arrived, and he’s here to stay.

The adidas x Lamine Yamal F50 boots are available now via adidas’ official store and select global retailers.

Bayern Munich unveil stunning 2025 Oktoberfest kit

Bayern Munich and adidas have unveiled the club’s annual Oktoberfest kit – and this year’s edition might be the most authentic nod to Bavarian tradition yet.

The release celebrates the 190th edition of the modern Oktoberfest beer festival, which began in 1810 with the royal wedding of Bavaria’s Crown Prince Ludwig (later King Ludwig I) and Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen.

Fittingly, the 2025 kit blends football heritage with Alpine craftsmanship.

Built on a light beige base, the shirt draws inspiration from traditional Tracht garments worn during the festival, accented with deep green tones that echo the colours of Bavarian attire. Embossed Lederhosen-inspired textures and jacquard detailing elevate the design, pushing the Oktoberfest aesthetic to its fullest expression.

Finishing touches include a reimagined club crest in Bavarian-style lettering and the return of the adidas Trefoil logo, reinforcing the retro-meets-traditional feel.

The kit is completed with black shorts and socks featuring green trims, while a wider collection adds a cap, training top, button-down tracksuit jacket, and matching pants, all styled in grey with subtle green accents.

Bayern will debut the kit in their home clash against Werder Bremen on September 26.

As always, the Oktoberfest drop comes in limited supply, but this year’s highlight is a special collector’s edition box containing the full kit (jersey, shorts, socks). Fittingly, only 1,900 boxes are available worldwide.

Ryan Reynolds donates £10,000 to fundraiser of Wrexham teenager

Wrexham co-owner Ryan Reynolds has donated £10,000 to a fundraising campaign for 13-year-old Lexi, a brave girl from Wrexham, who is fighting a rare and aggressive form of heart cancer.

Lexi Collins was diagnosed with the disease in June and has already undergone two open-heart surgeries, had a pacemaker fitted, and is currently receiving intensive chemotherapy.

Despite the challenges, Lexi’s dream is to visit New York City this Christmas – a wish that is now closer to becoming a reality thanks to the support from the community.

The initial fundraiser was set up by Lexi’s family and supported by Wrexham Police FC, who launched their own GoFundMe page to help fund her dream trip. With Reynolds’ generous £10,000 donation, the original target of £20,000 has now been reached.

Wrexham Police FC shared the exciting news, saying: “A huge thank you to our friend @VancityReynolds for once again showing his incredible generosity. Because of his support, Lexi will be heading to New York when she’s feeling well enough. Not all heroes wear capes, this one wears a red and black suit.”

In addition to Reynolds’ contribution, there is also a separate GoFundMe page set up by Lexi’s family to cover costs for potential overseas treatment, travel, and the substantial medical expenses associated with her fight against cancer.

The largest donation on this page is £5,000 from Ethan Payne, known as Behzinga, a YouTube star and member of the Sidemen.

Although unconfirmed, this generous donation is believed to have come from Payne, who had previously shared links to Lexi’s fundraiser on his social media accounts.

Borussia Dortmund debut striking neon 2025/26 away kit

Borussia Dortmund have unveiled – and swiftly debuted – their bold new away kit for the 2025/26 season.

The shirt arrives in a striking mix of white, black, and high-voltage neon yellow. A clean white base is lit up with bold black sleeves and vibrant yellow accents, designed as a true reflection of the electric energy that encapsulates the Westfalenstadion.

Behind the bold design sits cutting-edge performance. The Authentic version uses PUMA’s featherlight ULTRAWEAVE material, built to minimise weight and resistance, while the Replica edition mirrors the same striking aesthetic in a fan-friendly fit. Both come with dryCELL moisture-control tech to keep wearers cool under pressure.

Dortmund unveiled the kit just a day before wearing it for the first time in the Bundesliga at the Voith-Arena, where they beat Heidenheim 2-0 thanks to goals from Serhou Guirassy – his fifth of the campaign already – and Maximilian Beier.

The new Borussia Dortmund 2025/26 away kit is available now via the club and PUMA’s official online stores, as well as select global retailers.
