Why Kylian Mbappe has invested in France’s SailGP team

Back in March 2025, Kylian Mbappé made a surprising business move by purchasing a stake in the France SailGP team.

Through his venture capital firm, Coalition Capital, Mbappé became the team’s official charity partner, joining a diverse group of investors global racing championship that includes F1 driver Sebastian Vettel, who sponsors the German team, and actors Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds, co-owners of the Australian team.

In a recent interview with The Athletic, the Real Madrid superstar opened up about his reasons for investing in the team.

“Well, the first thing is that as a French person, I’ve always wanted to support my compatriots,” Mbappé explained. “I’ve always wanted to support French sport, so that was already a first factor.”

He also highlighted the social impact of SailGP: “The second is because SailGP does a lot of things socially for children. And to have been able to involve my foundation with SailGP is really something that fills me with joy because we share a lot of values and we have a lot of projects planned together for the future.”

Founded in 2020, Mbappé’s Inspired by Kylian Mbappé (IBKM) foundation aims to help young people find direction and purpose in their lives. Through his partnership with the French SailGP team, he’s creating opportunities for some of the 98 teenagers and young adults in his program to experience the thrill of high-level competition firsthand.

“I want them to have the freedom to create their own experience, their own memories, because they are the ones who will live it,” he said.

“They’ll also learn the meaning of sacrifice, the meaning of hard work, because they’ll see how much work it takes to get a result, seeing the preparation for a major competition. Of course, I don’t know what they plan to do with their lives in the future, but they will see the mental preparation of the sailors, seeing how much self-control and management of emotions is involved.”

As for his own sailing expertise, Mbappé admitted it’s still limited – but he’s eager to learn and sees it as a potential new passion beyond football.

“I’m a very curious person, and I’m trying to develop myself more and more to gain as much knowledge as possible,” he said. “So it’s really going to be a great learning experience for me because sailing is not an area I know very well.

“I never wanted to close any doors for my post-career. I never wanted to say no to anything, so we’ll see, but I have a lot of work to do before considering what comes after.”

With his commitment to French sport, youth development, and personal growth, Mbappé’s investment in SailGP reflects both his ambitions on and off the pitch – and hints at an exciting future, whether on the football field or the open seas.

Inter release 2025/26 away kit celebrating inclusion and diversity

Inter have officially unveiled their away kit for the 2025/26 season – a design that champions the values of inclusion and diversity.

Staying true to their traditional white base, this season’s shirt is overlaid with a distinctive pattern of blue X-shapes, inspired by Italian textile craftsmanship. The colour palette ranges from soft ‘Aqua Ghost’ to deep ‘Blue Void’, creating a bold contrast against the club crest and Nike branding.

On release, Inter said the pattern “celebrates the belief that a team is strong thanks to the uniqueness of each of its members.”

Part of the club’s global motto, “Brothers and Sisters of the World,” is also printed inside the collar, further reinforcing the inclusive message.

Technically, the jersey is constructed using Nike’s latest Dri-FIT ADV technology – developed in collaboration with athletes and designed to optimise performance. Moisture-wicking fabric and breathable zones provide enhanced comfort, particularly useful in hot summer conditions like those expected during the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.

Inter will debut the new away shirt in their opening match of the tournament against Liga MX side Monterrey on June 18.

“The new Away Shirt is not only a technical item, but also a symbol of belonging and respect, with universal values that go beyond just the football world,” the club added.

The jersey is available now via Inter’s and Nike’s official online stores, as well as through selected global retailers.

Paris Saint-Germain will be defending their first-ever UEFA Champions League crown in style, thanks to a sharp new look for the 2025/26 season.

The French champions have unveiled their updated home kit, which reimagines their iconic blue and red design. The jersey features a deep blue base, with bold red and white accents, including a lattice-style graphic that pays tribute to the Eiffel Tower – a symbol of the city that sits at the heart of the club’s identity.

White beams cut sharply across the jersey, highlighting the Nike swoosh, Qatar Airways sponsor, and the outline of PSG’s unmistakable crest in what is a modern design twist fit for European champions.

Although the men’s first team is already in the U.S. gearing up for the FIFAClub World Cup, PSG launched the new kit in style back in Paris. The reveal took place at La Gaîté Lyrique – a stunning music venue – with club icons Blaise Matuidi, Guillaume Hoarau, and Jérémy Ménez joining the celebration to usher in a bold new chapter.

Fans won’t have to wait long to see it in action. PSG will debut the kit during their Club World Cup opener against Atlético Madrid on June 15 in Los Angeles.

Meanwhile, Bayern’s women’s team will unveil the jersey on home soil in their Bundesliga opener against Leverkusen at the Allianz Arena on 6 September.

The exclusive back print showcases iconic moments from his illustrious Bayern career, a fitting salute to the club’s all-time appearance leader.

With style, legacy, and loyalty woven into every thread, Bayern’s 2025/26 home kit marks the beginning of a new chapter – one that honours its past while looking firmly toward the future.

Lionel Messi names Lamine Yamal among five global stars his young sons idolise

When it comes to footballing idols, few come bigger than Lionel Messi – the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner widely regarded as the greatest player of all time.

So, when your father is that Lionel Messi, you might assume he’s the only footballer you’d ever look up to. But that’s not quite the case for Messi’s three sons – Thiago, Mateo, and Ciro – who have their own list of modern-day heroes.

In a recent and rare interview with Simplemente Fútbol, the Argentina and Inter Miami superstar was asked which current players his sons – who all play in Inter Miami’s youth academy – aspire to.

He named five standout stars: Real Madrid duo Kylian Mbappé and Vinicius Jr., Barcelona stars Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski, and Manchester City’s Erling Haaland.

“They watch everything, they know everyone,” Messi said. “They talk to you about Mbappé, Vinicius, Haaland, Lewandowski, Lamine. They follow everyone – not necessarily wanting to be like them, but they do know everything.”

Messi took a moment to focus on one name in particular: Lamine Yamal, the Barcelona wonderkid often compared to Messi himself – not just because of the club connection, but because of his style of play.

The Spanish winger, 17, is among the favourites to land this year’s Ballon d’Or after an astonishing season that saw him score 18 goals and register 25 assists for Barça, helping them lift a historic treble of La Liga, and the Spanish Super Cup and Copa del Rey.

“It’s impressive. What he’s showing, what he’s doing, what he’s done is impressive,” Messi said. “He was already a European champion. He’s still 17, he’s in the process of growth, and I think he’s going to grow even more as a player; he’s going to add things to his game.”

He also noted a shared journey, both having started on the right wing.

“Just as I started, he also started on the right. Maybe in a few years he’ll end up playing differently too,” Messi added. “There’s no doubt he has barbaric skills; today he’s already one of the best in the world.”

With Messi as their dad and stars like Yamal to look up to, don’t be surprised if one of his boys becomes the next name lighting up world football.
