Chelsea, Nike launch stylish new training gear, away kit unveiled

Chelsea are heading into the summer – and the new season – with a bold new look both on and off the pitch.

Alongside an already active transfer window, which has seen signings like Liam Delap and Mamadou Sarr confirmed and further additions expected, the club have also revealed their new home and away kits – the traditional blue home features a red trim and a striking print inspired by London’s architecture while the away shirt, inspired by Hungary’s legendary ‘Magnificent Magyars’, has a white base featuring red and green pinstripes – a design seen in the 1970s during Dave Sexton’s tenure.

The Blues have also teamed up with Nike to launch their official 2025/26 training wear collection – a stylish and performance-driven range perfect for summer workouts or casual wear.

Sponsored by global cryptocurrency platform BingX, the collection includes a variety of high-performance items: short- and long-sleeve pre-match tops, drill tops, shorts, joggers, and lightweight outerwear. Designed with both athletes and fans in mind, the gear blends on-pitch functionality with everyday comfort.

The colour palette leans heavily into green tones, with deep “Outdoor Green” as the base, accented by “Jade Horizon” and “Phantom” highlights to add visual contrast.

Standout items include the Nike Dri-FIT pre-match top, available in both light and dark versions. Engineered for performance, it features sweat-wicking fabric and a slim, streamlined fit to help keep wearers cool and focused.

The Dri-FIT drill top adds a functional twist with thumbholes that keep sleeves in place during movement, while the knit construction of both the long pants and shorts ensures flexibility and all-day comfort.

Chelsea stars Josh Acheampong, Trevoh Chalobah, and Levi Colwill modeled the range in an exclusive photoshoot to launch the new line.

The full collection – available in men’s, women’s, and kids’ sizes – is on sale now through Chelsea’s official online store.

Michail Antonio shares incredible footage of post-car crash rehabilitation

In December 2024, West Ham United striker Michail Antonio was involved in a terrifying car crash that left him with a shattered femur and fighting for his life.

Antonio was trapped inside his Ferrari for over 45 minutes after crashing into a tree in Epping, Essex. He was eventually airlifted to hospital, where he underwent surgery the following day.

Recalling the moment he saw the wreckage of his car at a scrapyard weeks later, Antonio told BBC One’s Morning Live: “It just made me realise how close I was to dying. I had seen the pictures, but it was 10 times worse in person. The car was an absolute mess.”

Remarkably, just months after the crash, the Jamaica international is already back in training – a testament to his determination and resilience. To mark that progress, Antonio shared an emotional and inspiring video on Instagram, offering fans a glimpse into his recovery journey.

Captioned “Faith will overcome all challenges,” the montage begins with footage of him in a hospital bed and follows his slow, determined steps as he relearns how to walk and rebuild strength in his injured leg.

The video also features touching scenes from his return to the London Stadium in March, where he was introduced to West Ham fans, as well as footage of his first steps back on the training ground.

Set to the voice of motivational speaker Eric Thomas, the video includes the powerful line: “Pain is temporary. It may last for a minute, it may last for an hour, a day, or even a year. But eventually, it will subside and something will take its place.”

Antonio’s video quickly drew admiration and support from current and former teammates, as well as fans.

“Respect brother,” wrote Vladimír Coufal, while Tomáš Sou?ek and former Hammer Sébastien Haller – who overcame testicular cancer in 2023 – responded with heartfelt emojis.

Singer Alexandra Burke, who is engaged to Antonio’s former West Ham teammate Darren Randolph, commented: “You’re so blessed. God is so good.”

Neymar, Toni Kroos among stars to congratulate Carlos Alcaraz on French Open win

With the regular European football seasons now over, fans have been looking elsewhere to get their sporting fix – at least until the Club World Cup kicks off on June 14.

Those who tuned in to the final of the French Open certainly got their fix – and then some – as they witnessed one of the greatest tennis matches of all time.

In a five-set, five-and-a-half-hour epic, Spanish star Carlos Alcaraz came from two sets down – saving multiple championship points along the way – to defeat Jannik Sinner and claim his second consecutive Roland Garros title and the fifth Grand Slam of his young career.

As the dust settled, congratulations flooded in for the 22-year-old phenom, including from some of world football’s biggest names and clubs, many of whom were clearly watching.

Real Madrid, the club Alcaraz supports, led the tributes, posting: “All madridistas are happy and proud of this brilliant success achieved by one of our own.”

Former Real midfielder Toni Kroos reshared a 2022 photo of himself with Alcaraz – originally captioned “The future. And me.” – this time adding a short, smug follow-up: “Told you.”

Current Real No. 1 Thibaut Courtois posted a photo of Alcaraz to his Instagram Stories, writing: “Brutal.” Vinícius Jr. also shared a shot of the Spaniard lifting the trophy, with the one-word caption: “Locura”—meaning “Madness” in Spanish.

Elsewhere, Brazilian star Neymar Jr. – whom Alcaraz has previously cited as one of his all-time favourite players – also offered his congratulations, as did Tottenham and England striker Dominic Solanke.

Curiously, one high-profile absence from the congratulatory chorus was the Spanish national football team.

Despite being seen pre-match huddled around a phone watching Alcaraz’s final, the squad ended their night on a sour note – losing to Portugal on penalties in the UEFA Nations League final – and the team and its players made no public tribute to their compatriot.

While the lack of congratulations from his Spanish countrymen might have raised a few eyebrows, it’s unlikely to bother Alcaraz – given the near-universal adulation he received from the rest of the sporting world.

Alejandro Garnacho takes time out from Man Utd exit rumours with Rome holiday

Where Alejandro Garnacho will be playing his football next season remains uncertain, but one thing that seems increasingly likely is that it won’t be at Manchester United.

Following a difficult 2024/25 campaign in which he struggled to establish himself as a regular under new manager Rúben Amorim, the Argentine winger has reportedly agreed to explore a move away from Old Trafford in the coming months.

Chelsea are said to be among the clubs interested in his services. There is also reported interest from the continent – most notably from Bayer Leverkusen, now managed by former United boss Erik ten Hag, and Napoli, where former United players Scott McTominay and Romelu Lukaku currently ply their trade.

Despite the ongoing speculation, Garnacho doesn’t appear to be letting the uncertainty affect his downtime. The 20-year-old recently jetted off on holiday to Rome with his partner, Eva Garcia, and their young child.

Garcia shared a series of photos on Instagram, capturing moments from their trip to the Italian capital. The pictures included selfies with Garnacho, visits to iconic landmarks such as the Colosseum and Trevi Fountain, and snapshots of the family enjoying meals at local restaurants and bars.

One particularly heartwarming image showed Garcia and Garnacho posing in a mirror with their son, giving fans a glimpse into their family life.

Garnacho also posted a photo of himself outside the Colosseum to his Instagram Stories, though he has so far refrained from sharing anything on his main profile – just as he has done since speculation about his United future began to intensify.

Still, with sun-soaked strolls, scenic views, and plenty of pasta on the menu, perhaps the young winger is getting a taste for the Italian lifestyle – maybe even a sign of things to come.

Nike unveil new Phantom 6 boots to be worn by Erling Haaland, Alexia Putellas

Nike have officially unveiled the latest evolution of their iconic Phantom football boot line – the Nike Phantom 6 – and it’s engineered for players who thrive on precision and control.

Built using athlete feedback from previous models including the Phantom GX 1 & 2 and Luna 1 & 2, the Phantom 6 has been fine-tuned to enhance key aspects of attacking play: sharper striking, improved spin, accurate passing, and better traction on the pitch.

At the heart of the design is Tuned Gripknit, a new upper material that moulds naturally to the foot while offering enhanced micro-textured grip. This innovation gives players improved boot-to-ball connection, particularly in high-speed or high-pressure situations.

Also featured is an upgraded Cyclone 360 stud pattern, now with integrated conical studs that optimise weight distribution. This design not only increases balance and comfort underfoot, but also boosts agility without sacrificing stability.

The Phantom 6 will be available in both High and Low versions, which share the same soleplate. The High model includes additional Gripknit coverage over the laces for players who want maximum ball manipulation in tight spaces.

Elite stars like Manchester City striker Erling Haaland and Barcelona Femení playmaker Alexia Putellas will be among those wearing the new boots.

“If there was one thing that I could ask a pair of boots to help me improve, it would be the precision to score more goals,” Haaland said. “I feel like this Phantom allows me to do just that: shut off all distractions and focus on nothing other than attacking.”

Putellas added: “You can feel an immediate difference playing with the new Phantom. With the grip in the upper, I can put the ball exactly where I want it. Players with an offence mindset will love this boot for dribbling, passing and shooting with next-level precision.”

Beyond performance, the Phantom 6 makes a bold fashion statement. Its striking black, green, and red colourway, along with textured accents on the Swoosh and heel, ensure it stands out as much for its looks as for its innovation.

“Sure, the boots are comfortable and feel extremely lightweight, but they also look cool and are impossible to ignore on the pitch,” Haaland added.

The Nike Phantom 6 High and Low will be available in Elite, Pro, and Academy models starting June 12 at nike.com and select global retailers.
