Atletico Madrid interest in Galatasaray's Burak Yilmaz, says agent

Ali Egesel revealed the Primera Liga side are one of a number of teams who have inquired about the Turkey international while he refused to rule out a move to Serie A

The agent of Galatasaray forward Burak Yilmaz has revealed he has been in contact with Atletico Madrid regarding the player’s signature, though he admitted there are a number of clubs interested in signing him in the summer.

Ali Egesel would not name any other sides who he has spoken to regarding the 27-year-old, but it is thought a number of Europe’s biggest sides have been monitoring the Turkey international.

“I can confirm that we have received interest from Atletico but we are open to other possibilities,” he told tuttomercatoweb.com.

Atletico are one of a number of Spanish side linked with Burak, though Italy has also been touted as a possible destination, and Egesel admitted there has been interest from Serie A after Lazio came close to bringing him to Stadio Olimpico in 2012.

“Italy? Yes, why not. There are a few Italian clubs who have expressed an interest. Last year he was close to signing for Lazio but please don’t ask me for names right now.

“Burak is very happy at Galatasaray but of course we are always open to hearing offers from elsewhere.”

Reports in Spain suggest Atletico coach Diego Simeone is looking to add a striker to his squad, with Sevilla’s Alvaro Negredo seen as an alternative to Burak.
