United Out Of Moutinho Chase?

Porto’s president has come out to deny having received any bids for their star playmaker Joao Moutinho and has called recent reports a figment of imagination.

The 25 year old who joined Porto in the summer of 2010 has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League with Manchester United and Tottenham both interested in the midfielder. Former Porto boss Andre Villas Boas who has recently been appointed manager of Spurs, is looking to reunite with Moutinho with the departure of Luka Modric very likely.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has been following the young midfielder for a couple of years and after seemingly giving up on Modric has turned his attention to him. Moutinho shone for his national team at the Euros and showed why he is considered as a top prospect in Europe.

Porto aren’t keen on losing him and it would take a considerably high amount to prize him away from Estadio do dragao.

‘A bid for Moutinho? It’s an invention of the newspapers to sell more copies,’ president Pinto da Costa said.

Modric who is inching closer to a move to Real Madrid needs to be replaced at White Hart Lane and the money they make from the deal would be good enough to land Moutinho in England.
